Final Moments

HMAS Hobart was decommissioned on the 12th of May 2000, She was then towed to
SOUTH AUSTRALIA where she was prepared to be scuttled at in Yankalilla Bay off the
southern coast of the Fleurieu Peninsula.
HMAS Hobart was finally scuttled on the 5th of November 2002 after many delays.
It took 2 minutes and 17 seconds to sink and now sits upright on the sandy bottom,
4 nautical miles west in
30 metres of water off Marina St Vincent.

Highlights the importance of the RAN's logistic support role during the Vietnam War. HMAS Sydney (III) made 25 operational visits in the war zone, ferrying approximately 15,600 Army and RAAF personnel, stores and equipment. Includes first hand accounts by sailors and soldiers in who sailed on HMAS Sydney and her escort ships as well as a nominal list of those who served on them. This expanded edition also includes the names of the Ship's Army Staff, the crews of Jeparit and Boonaroo and the RAN band who toured Vietnam.

We had originally run out of copies of our book "The Vung Tau Ferry & Escort Ships - Vietnam 1965-1972". Our 3 editions were in Hard-Cover.
